講演会だよりThe Department of Global Education held an anniversary symposium on October 31, 2017 to celebrate the inauguration of the Department with guest speakers from two of our partnership institutions from Denmark, University Colleges of Abasalon and Northern Denmark in Aalborg. We proudly demonstrated scholarship excellence and high potential for future growth of the Department through innovative presentations and interactive roundtable discussion in our beautifully equipped new building. The significance of the Symposium lay in its fruitful and productive deliberations to the audience on unique pedagogy and classroom instruction through a variety of topics based on the rapport established among professors from University Colleges of Denmark and faculty and students, mostly from English and Global Education, of Tsuru University. In keynote presentations, President Seiji Fukuta explained the difference between international and global education in relation to pedagogy in detail and Professor Tiemensma presented the integrated ideas of disciplines, critical theory, semiotics, and innovation management for teacher education. Following the Fika (“coee break” in Swedish), Dr. Kjærgaard argued how technology can help overcome challenges in cross-cultural education programs in higher education and Dr. Eriko Yamabe of Global Education discussed how teachers can be accelerators rather than obstacles in the age of globalization. Dr. Yamabe efficiently and brilliantly moderated and facilitated the following roundtable discussion, which led the entire audience to an understanding of multicultural and multifaceted ways of viewing the world based on their interdisciplinary approaches to knowledge. The Department of Global Education has been recognized as an officially certified International Baccalaureate institution that offers the skills and concepts of educating active, compassionate, and lifelong learners. As the Department prepares for a distinctive study abroad program with opportunities for internships and international teaching practicum, this symposium has become an important platform to successfully exhibit the strength of the partnership with University Colleges of Denmark and to employ an inquiry based active learning style in both bilingual and solely English or Japanese language settings.(国際教育学科 教授 森川鈴子)2017年度国際教育学科シンポジウム『Overarching Vision and Prospects for the Internationalization of Teacher Education: How Can Teachers’ International Experiences and Perspectives Aect Classrooms, Children, and Youth? 』教師教育の国際化に関する可能性と展望:教師の国際化は教育をどう変えるか開催:平成29年10月31日(火) ゲスト講演者: Britt Due Tiemensma氏・Thomas Kjærgaard氏ゲスト講師紹介Thomas Kjærgaard Senior Lecturer of Teacher Education, University of College of Northern DenmarkMA and PhD in Philosophy, Language, Linguistics and Media from Aalborg UniversityBritt Due TiemensmaSenior Lecturer of University College Absalon, Denmark.
