Price: Free Mt. Fuji Times Vol. 2 January 1, 2017 Tenka Chaya is a Japanese style café located in the north of Lake Kawaguchi, at the top of Misaka-tōge Pass. Mt. Fuji can be viewed across the mountain with Lake Kawaguchi below. The view is so splendid that it is selected as one of the three major views of Mt. Fuji. The café serves various dishes including local dishes such as Hōtō (Yamanashi’s local noodle) and Imo-Dango (potato dumpling). Many souvenirs are also available at the entrance area of the café. てん天か下ちゃ茶や屋はかわ河ぐち口こ湖のきた北、み三さか坂とうげ峠にあるちゃ茶みせ店です。がん眼か下のかわ河ぐち口こ湖とて手まえ前のやま山のむ向こうにふ富じ士さん山をみ見ることができます。このぜっ絶けい景からふ富じ士み見さん三けい景にかぞ数えられています。てん天か下ちゃ茶や屋ではほうとう、いもだんごなどきょう郷ど土りょう料り理やき季せつ節りょう料り理をあじ味わうことができます。ちゃ茶や屋のい入りくち口にはたくさんのおみやげ土産もう売られています。 In 1934, the first lodge of Tenka Chaya was built. It was a wooden two-storied chaya of three 8-mat tatami rooms. The chaya provided meal for travelers passing through Misaka-tōge Pass. It began to be called Tenka Chaya after Soho Tokutomi, one of the journalists of the day, introduced it in a newspaper. The current lodge, a lot bigger than the original, was rebuilt in 1983. At that time, ‘The Literature Memorial Hall of Dazai Osamu’, was founded on its second floor. さい最しょ初のてん天か下ちゃ茶や屋は1934ねん年にた建てられました。もく木ぞう造2かい階だ建てで8じょう畳ま間が３つほどでした。とうげ峠をい行きかうたび旅びと人にしょく食じ事をふるまっていました。「てん天か下ちゃ茶や屋」とよ呼ばれるようになったのは、とう当じ時のジャーナリスト、とく徳とみ富そ蘇ほう峰がしん新ぶん聞にてん天か下ちゃ茶や屋をしょう紹かい介したのがきっかけです。げん現ざい在のたて建もの物は1983ねん年にた建てられ、さい最しょ初のたて建もの物よりずいぶんとおお大きくなっています。ちゃ茶や屋の２かい階には「だ太ざい宰おさむ治き記ねん念しつ室」がせっ設ち置されています。 Dazai Osamu だ太ざい宰 おさむ治 There is a person who has a connection with Tenka Chaya. He is Osamu Dazai, one of the most well-known Japanese authors of fiction during the Showa period. He was born in Aomori prefecture in 1909. His work is part of the Decadent School. Until he died in 1948, he wrote masterpieces such as “Run, Meros!”, ”No Longer Human”, “The Setting Sun” and so on. てん天か下ちゃ茶や屋にゆかりのあるじん人ぶつ物がいます。それはだ太ざい宰おさむ治です。だ太ざい宰はしょう昭わ和じ時だい代のしょう小せつ説か家としてもっと最もよくし知られているに日ほん本じん人さっ作か家のひと一り人です。1909ねん年にあお青もり森けん県にう生まれました。さく作ひん品はぶ無らい頼は派またはしん新げ戯さく作は派としょう称されます。1948ねん年にな亡くなるまで、『はし走れメロス』、『にん人げん間しっ失かく格』、『しゃ斜よう陽』などのけっ傑さく作をか書きのこ残しました。 In September 1938, Dazai visited Tenka Chaya to meet Masuji Ibuse whom Dazai studied under. At that time, people around Dazai were so worried about his disordered lifestyle after divorcing that they recommended him to get married. During his stay in Tenka Chaya, he got an arranged marriage by Ibuse's introduction. He wrote a short essay titled “One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji” the story of which is about the occurrence during about three months stay in Tenka Chaya. It was adapted as a CD book and movie. 1938ねん年9がつ月に だ太ざい宰はし師じ事していたい井ぶせ伏ます鱒じ二がたい滞ざい在していたてん天か下ちゃ茶や屋をおとず訪れました。とう当じ時、り離こん婚ご後にみだ乱れたせい生かつ活をおく送るだ太ざい宰をしゅう周い囲はしん心ぱい配してけっ結こん婚をすす勧めました。てん天か下ちゃ茶や屋にたい滞ざい在ちゅう中、だ太ざい宰はい井ぶせ伏のしょう紹かい介でみ見あ合いけっ結こん婚をしました。やく約3かヶげつ月のたい滞ざい在ちゅう中のできごとをか書いたたん短ぺん編しょう小せつ説『ふ富がく嶽ひゃっ百けい景」』はろう朗どく読CDやえい映が画にもなっています。 Visiting Tenkachaya てん天か下ちゃ茶や屋をおとず訪れて When we visited there, the restaurant was very crowded with motorcycle riders. There is a winding mountain pass on the way to Tenka Chaya and it seems popular for them to run on the mountain pass. The restaurant mainly serves Hōtō, which is so delicious. わたし私たちがおとず訪れたとき、しょく食じ事どころ処はバイクの乗りの方でいっ一ぱい杯でした。てん天か下ちゃ茶や屋まではとうげ峠があり、そこをとお通るのはかれ彼らのあいだ間でにんき人気なようです。しょく食じ事どころ処ではおも主にほうとうをだ出しています。とてもお美い味しいです。 After we finished eating, we went upstairs to the memorial hall of Osamu Dazai. Surprisingly, the table, brazier and Tokuri (a ceramic sake bottle used when serving Japanese sake) Dazai used were displayed. Also, many pictures related to him were exhibited. We could see Lake Kawaguchi and Mt. Fuji from a window. Though it was cloudy, the scenery was beautiful. Enjoying the view, we wondered how Dazai spent time there. しょく食じ事ご後、わたし私たちはかい階だん段をのぼ登ってき記ねん念しつ室にはい入りました。おどろ驚いたことに、だ太ざい宰がじっ実さい際にし使よう用したつくえ机やひばち火鉢、とっく徳り利がてん展じ示されていました。また、かれ彼にかん関するしゃ写しん真もおお多くてん展じ示されていました。まど窓からかわ河ぐち口こ湖とふ富じ士さん山をみ見ることができました。くも曇りでしたが、とてもうつく美しいけ景しき色でした。それをなが眺めながら、だ太ざい宰はこのち地でどのようにとき時をす過ごしたのだろうかとおも思いました。 We also visited the monument on which a famous line from Dazai's novel “One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji” is written. After this trip, we took more interest in Dazai's literature. We strongly recommend you to visit there and read his novel “One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji.” そのご後、『ふ富がく嶽ひゃっ百けい景』からのゆう有めい名ないっ一せつ節がきざ刻まれたひ碑をおとず訪れました。たび旅をお終えて、よりいっ一そう層かれ彼のぶん文がく学さく作ひん品にきょう興み味をも持ちました。ぜ是ひ非、おとず訪れて、『ふ富がく嶽ひゃっ百けい景』もよ読んでみてください。 ACCESS: 30 minutes from Kawaguchiko Station, Fuji Kyuko Line.
